Maple Road Reconstruction
Client: Erie County

This locally administered pass-through project being performed for Erie County is a highway rehabilitation, safety, and capacity improvement project on a 1.5 mile segment of Maple Road, one of Erie County’s most traveled highways with over 25,000 vehicles per day.  Work includes development of design report through construction inspection.  This involves construction and rehabilitation of pavement, new open and closed highway drainage system, curb and gutters, driveways, and improvements to the sidewalks.  The project includes improvements to the existing

traffic signals at the intersections within the project limits. Extended stacking lanes and new dedicated turn lanes will be added throughout the project limits.  Utility relocations and minor waterline improvements will also be required as part of the project scope.  The proposed improvements are expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion and public safety throughout the project corridor.

 

Erie Canal Harbor Streets Reconstruction
Client: City of Buffalo
DiDonato is the prime consultant for the design of Prime Street, Perry Street, Commercial, and Lloyd Streets.  The project involves design of historic streets within the Erie Canal Harbor Development.  Design elements include utilizing materials that interpret the historic nature of the site, which includes cobblestones, granite, and concrete for the roads, crosswalks, and sidewalks.  Additional elements include storm sewers, watermains, lighting, signalization, and light rail rapid transit track crossing.  During this project, DiDonato resolved R.O.W. issues with NYSDOT as well as consolidated the
Erie Canal Harbor Streets

three vertical datums (Great Lakes, USGS, and City of Buffalo) that Inner Harbor project was utilizing.  We are coordinating the design and phasing with the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation, the NFTA and the City of Buffalo.  Design of the streets is an integral part of the Inner Harbor project.  DiDonato is also providing construction monitoring services for this project.

 

Three Rod Road over Cayuga Creek
Client: Erie County Dept. of Public Works

DiDonato provided design services for the emergency superstructure replacement of this 110 ft. single span highway bridge. The project was progressed by a “Design/Build” project in conjunction with UCC Constructors, Inc. for the County of Erie. Responsibilities included coordination design efforts with the Contractor’s and Pre-caster’s work. Project duration was 12 weeks from start to finish including design and construction.
Three Rod Road over Cayuga Creek

New Oregon Bridge Reconstruction
Client: Erie County Dept. of Public Works

DiDonato was retained by ECDPW, Division of Highways, to design the replacement structures for County Bridge Nos. 446-1, 446-4, and 446-5, New Oregon Road over South Branch Eighteen Mile Creek. This replacement project was phased over two years. Under Phase 1 of this project, Bridge 446-1 was replaced. Phase 2 of the project replaced Bridges 446-4 and 446-5. In order to meet the demanding schedule, the project was bid as two separate contracts: one for the procurement of the concrete pre-stressed box beams and the other for the construction of the bridges.
